Honda 0 Alpha replaces the Elevate EV project in India which was shelved earlier.
There’s no two ways to say but Honda has been skeptical about entering the Indian passenger electric car market for multiple reasons. The Japanese automotive giant is adopting a wait-and-watch approach, allowing time for adequate infrastructure to emerge in support of a robust EV ecosystem in India.
Honda has now confirmed that it will enter this electric PV space in India in 2027 with the launch of 0 Alpha. The electric SUV made its global debut at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. It will most likely be manufactured locally in India which means it will be priced competitively against its rivals such as Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and more.
The 0 Alpha is heavily inspired by the larger 0 SUV showcased earlier at CES 2025, although the former has a much smaller footprint. The vehicle is developed under Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” philosophy from the 0 Series programme. This approach emphasises efficiency through lightweight engineering and intelligent packaging, enabling a low overall vehicle height while preserving ground clearance and interior space.

The front fascia adopts an upright stance, with vertically stacked lighting elements linked by a slim LED strip running across the bonnet. Both the front and rear windscreens are sharply raked, while the side profile features a tapering window line, a thick C-pillar, and a subtle rear spoiler.

Other exterior details include an illuminated Honda badge, a front-mounted charging port, and protective body cladding along the flanks. The SUV rides on aerodynamic 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels set within pronounced wheel arches. At the rear, a wide U-shaped LED tail-lamp signature dominates the design, accompanied by a faux bash plate integrated into the bumper, which also houses smaller light units.

The interior is expected to offer a spacious cabin based on Honda’s Thin packaging concept, featuring a flat-floor layout, integrated connectivity, and advanced safety systems. Technical specifications, including powertrain details and driving range, have yet to be disclosed.
Honda is yet to reveal the battery and motor specs of the 0 Alpha electric SUV. However, reports indicate that the SUV may be available with two battery pack options—65 kWh and 75 kWh. Power is expected to be delivered via a single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration, with further details on output and torque likely to be revealed closer to launch.
