Honda Cars India Posts 5% Domestic Growth in March; Exports Fall Sharply

Honda Cars India Ltd. reported a mixed performance for March 2026, with steady domestic growth offset by a sharp decline in exports.

The automaker recorded domestic sales of 7,585 units during the month, marking a 5% year-on-year increase over 7,228 units sold in March 2025. The growth was supported by sustained demand for key models such as the Honda Amaze and Honda Elevate.

However, exports witnessed a significant drop, falling to 2,451 units compared to 4,656 units in the same month last year. This represents a steep decline of nearly 47% year-on-year, underlining continued volatility in overseas markets.

Honda’s domestic performance reflects relatively stable demand conditions, even as the broader passenger vehicle market shows mixed trends. The company has been leveraging promotional campaigns and product positioning to sustain volumes in a competitive segment.

Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India, said that strong demand for the Amaze and Elevate, along with targeted promotional initiatives, contributed to the company achieving growth during the month.

Looking forward, Honda Cars India is preparing to expand its portfolio with the introduction of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) later this year. This move is expected to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing electric mobility space.

Overall, while March 2026 delivered modest gains in the domestic market, the steep fall in exports remains a key concern for the company going into the new financial year.
