Honda Cars India Ltd. has introduced a new, limited-unit variant of its popular compact sedan, the Honda City Sport. This new version of the City brings distinct styling upgrades, both inside and out, at ₹14.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the CVT variant. The City Sport sits above the standard CVT version, focusing heavily on sporty aesthetics and cabin ambience.
Honda City CVT Variants | Price (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
V | ₹14.40 lakh |
Sport (NEW) | ₹14.89 lakh |
VX | ₹15.47 lakh |
ZX | ₹16.65 lakh |
Offered in limited units (Honda has not confirmed the exact units), the City Sport is based on the fifth-generation Honda City and retains the mechanical package of the standard petrol variant. The car continues to be powered by Honda’s 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine, which is now E20 fuel compliant. It delivers 119 bhp and 145 Nm of torque, paired to a CVT unit with paddle shifters, offering a claimed mileage of 18.4 kmpl.
The most noticeable changes are on the exterior, where Honda has applied a series of sporty visual tweaks. These include a black front grille, black trunk lip spoiler, glossy black shark fin antenna, and black outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs). An exclusive ‘Sport’ badge further distinguishes the variant. The City Sport also gets unique multi-spoke grey alloy wheels, giving it a more dynamic road presence compared to the regular version.
Inside, the cabin adopts a full black interior theme, which is a major departure from the dual-tone treatment seen in most City variants. The seats, door inserts, and steering wheel come with contrasting red stitching. The roof liner and pillars are also blacked out, while additional visual upgrades include a dark red dash insert, glossy black AC vents, and 7-colour ambient lighting, which is not available on the standard variant.
Feature-wise, the City Sport retains all the comfort, convenience, and safety tech from the higher trims of the standard City. This includes Honda SENSING, the company’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), which offers features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking system, and more. While no new features have been introduced specifically for the Sport trim beyond aesthetic additions, the inclusion of ADAS ensures that the variant remains competitive in terms of safety.
The City Sport is available in three colour options: Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic. Buyers opting for the Pearl finish will have to pay an extra ₹8,000. Notably, the City Sport is only offered with the automatic (CVT) transmission — there is no manual version, and no diesel or hybrid option.
