The issue might lead to loss of balance, something that no riders would ever imagine in their wildest of dreams.
Honda has issued a recall for its litre-class adventure bike, CRF1100 Africa Twin, across global markets. The manufacturer cites that Africa Twins which were manufactured between February 2022 and October 2022 have a defect regarding its throttle operation. Honda states that due to this issue the bike’s wheelie control system “may get activated unexpectedly which in some cases may lead to loss of balance”. This is quite the effect, for no one would want to lose balance on a bike, especially in the middle of a ride.
Honda will rectify the issue by updating the ECU software of the affected motorcycles with the correct programming. Owners will not have to bear any cost for this fix, even if the bike does not fall under warranty. Honda will resolve the issue across all BigWing dealerships in India. And since the Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin is not a mass-selling product like the Activa, the affected numbers will be low for there have been very few buyers of this adventure bike.
On the other hand, Honda had trademarked the 2024 CRF1100 Africa Twin in India earlier this year. The upcoming model benefits from a slew of updates, starting from the new 19-inch wheels at the front. The 1,084 cc, parallel-twin engine has also bee altered for more peak torque output. Lastly, the ergonomics has also been revised for reduced seat height and better comfort. But when will Honda bring the 2024 Africa Twin, is still under wraps. At the moment, the brand is gearing up to launch its first electric scooter, the Honda Activa-E, in India. Honda has already released a series of teaser videos – the details of which you can learn here.
