The premium scooter segment ranging from 150-160 cc has been quite a niche segment so far, with only two manufacturers – Yamaha and Aprilia/Vespa – populating this space with its Aerox 155, and SR and SXR 160 scooters, respectively. However, that is about to change. After Hero MotoCorp confirmed that it will launch the Xoom 160, Honda has now trademarked the design of its Stylo 160 in India.
Positioned as a premium scooter in the Indonesian market, the Honda Stylo 160 gets a practical body style with some niche touches. For starters, the front apron gets a nice grille, and the hexagonal LED headlight with the chrome cap further amps up its premium quotient. Couple that with the brown seat cover, and brown garnishing on the side body, with chrome mirror, the Stylo 160’s stylish appeal stands out quite distinctly.
It doesn’t miss out on practicality as well. For starters, it gets a 30-litres of under-seat storage space and a flat footboard. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels coloured in striking bronze. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic fork, and the fork is coloured in either black or silver. Some of the standout features available with this 160 cc scooter include a fully digital instrument cluster, full-LED lighting, Honda Smart Key, and a USB charger, to name a few.
Mechanically, the Stylo 160 is powered by a 156.9 cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine that produces 15.18 bhp and 13.8 Nm. So, all in all, the Honda Stylo 160 reads quite nicely on paper.
However, Honda has this tendency to protect its IPs in India. For the uninitiated, Honda had already trademarked the previous generation of the Stylo 160, but the latest trademark is for the current generation of Stylo 160. Now, whether this new Honda scooter goes on sale in India, or suffers the same fate as the older iteration remains to be seen.
