Honda Cars India has revealed its new flagship offering, the ZR-V. The new SUV will be positioned in the same space as the Volkswagen Tayron, Skoda Kodiaq and the like, and will be arriving as a completely built unit (CBU) to the Indian market.
The Honda ZR-V has only been revealed today, while the launch is slated in a few weeks. Pre-bookings have begun, and deliveries will commence in the second half of July this year.
The Honda ZR-V is more crossover-like than a full-sized SUV. Its styling is much different to that of the Elevate, Honda’s only SUV in India till now. The new model sports an octagonal grille with vertical and horizontal slats, LED headlamps, and functional air vents on the front bumper. It rides on 19-inch wheels. A raked rear windscreen brings some drama to its profile. The rear gets LED taillights and a black-and-silver bumper along with chrome-finished exhaust tips.
Inside, the Honda ZR-V will get a digital instrument console, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, and a shift-by-wire gear selector. On the feature front, the SUV will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also offer an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, a powered tailgate, and an ADAS suite.
Power will come from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid engine mated to an e-CVT gearbox. The hybrid motor is capable of producing 181 bhp and 315 Nm of peak torque with power going to the front wheels.
Prices for the new Honda ZR-V should be in the ₹45-50 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket. It will act as a brand builder, while the automaker consolidates its future lineup for India, which includes an electric SUV arriving by 2027, a new sub 4-metre SUV slated to arrive in 2028, and a new mid-size SUV expected by the end of this decade.
