This is part of a larger investment strategy of Rs. 20,000 crore planned over ten years for EV manufacturing.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has revealed investment plans totalling Rs. 6,180 crore in Tamil Nadu, including a dedicated 'Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub' in collaboration with IIT-Madras, with an investment of Rs. 180 crore. This initiative is part of a larger investment strategy of Rs. 20,000 crore planned over ten years (2023-2032) for electric vehicle manufacturing, charging infrastructure, and skill development.

Aligned with the Hyundai Hydrogen Vision, the objective is to contribute to the global Hydrogen Society by promoting the widespread use of hydrogen. HMIL, in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the 'Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub.' With an investment of Rs. 180 crore, this hub will serve as an incubation centre for developing a framework for localising the hydrogen ecosystem. The initiative aims to create job opportunities and support skill development in the region.

At the event, Hyundai showcased its Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) NEXO and an exclusive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Engagement Zone. The NEXO reflects Hyundai's commitment to environmental sustainability, as its hydrogen fuel cell engine generates electricity with zero emissions, only emitting water. Visitors had the opportunity to experience Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS) technology through immersive gaming demonstrations.

This investment and collaboration highlight Hyundai's efforts to contribute to clean and sustainable transportation solutions, aligning with the growing global focus on hydrogen-based technologies. The establishment of the Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the localisation of hydrogen-related technologies and fostering economic development in the region.
