The Creta facelift gets a new design, features and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Ahead of its debut later this month, Hyundai has revealed many details about the upcoming Creta facelift. Alongside, Hyundai has also opened bookings for the compact SUV for a token amount of ₹25,000. The brand has also mentioned that existing Creta booking holders will have the option of choosing the facelifted model.
Hyundai has also shared some teasers of the upcoming Creta facelift that hint at its design, stating that it uses the brand’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. The Creta will still have a split-headlamp design but much different than before. The Creta facelift gets full-width LED daytime running lights with two inverted L-shaped elements on both corners. It still gets a big grille but this time it has a more squared-off design with inserts similar to the Tucson facelift.
At the back, the Creta facelift also gets a full-width lightbar on the tailgate. Like the front, the taillights also get two inverted L-shaped elements on each side. Other visible elements in the teasers include a spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper and a rugged-looking bumper with a centrally-placed reverse light. The Creta facelift will be available in seven colour options – Robust Emerald Pearl, Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Abyss Black, Atlas White, Titan Grey and Atlas White with Abyss Black roof.
Inside, the Creta facelift sees a radical change from the current model. The upcoming model has a twin-screen layout where one is a digital instrument cluster and one is the infotainment touchscreen. The central AC vents are now mounted below the touchscreen and beneath those is a control panel for the HVAC and media controls. This panel will also have two knobs, flanking a small display, and two toggle switches with the remaining controls being touch-based.
The new Creta also gets ambient lighting inside, which is now placed in the centre console and the cubby hole on the dashboard above the glovebox. Hyundai also mentioned that the Creta facelift will get a host of advanced active and passive safety features, confirming the presence of ADAS in the upcoming compact SUV.
Under the hood, the Creta facelift continues with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Hyundai is reintroducing the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that debuted on the Verna. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, a CVT, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Like before, the petrol engine gets the choice of either the manual and the CVT, the diesel engine gets the manual and the automatic gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine is exclusively available with DCT.
The Creta facelift will be available in seven trims – E, EX, S, S (O), SX, SX Tech and SX (O) – and 19 variants. The turbo-petrol DCT is solely available on the SX (O) trim, while the diesel automatic is available on the S (O) and SX (O) trims. The petrol CVT is available on the S (O), SX Tech and SX (O) trims. The petrol manual and diesel manual powertrains are available across the trim range.
Expect the Creta facelift to come with a slight price bump compared to the outgoing model. Currently, the Creta is priced between ₹10.87 lakh and ₹19.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
