This will be the first significant update for the Hyundai Exter ever since it was first launched in July 2023.
We recently got to know that Hyundai is working on the Exter facelift when first spy shots of the vehicle went viral a couple of weeks ago. The updated Exter was spotted testing somewhere in Tamil Nadu. The micro SUV has once again been spotted in its updated avatar, this time back home in South Korea.
Previous reports have indicated that Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Exter facelift in the first half of 2026. This follows the launch of the facelifted Tata Punch, a direct rival to the Exter. The latest test mule wears a heavy camouflage concealing most of the intricate details. That said, a few details can be deduced from the images.

The spy shots suggest a subtly redesigned front fascia with a tweaked grille flanked by a split lighting setup. The bumper also seems to be reprofiled. The H-shaped DRL signatures appear to have been carried over. Changes to the side profile are expected to be minimal, while the rear may receive a redesigned tailgate, rectangular tail-lamps, and a revised bumper. One interesting detail noticed in the latest images is the absence of a roof rail as seen in the current model.

Images of the interiors of the upcoming Hyundai Exter facelift are currently unavailable but we can assume the layout to be largely similar to the current model. However, Hyundai may add some new features to the Exter to make it more appealing, especially for new buyers. The updated Exter could see upgrades such as a larger infotainment display and enhanced functionality for the digital instrument cluster. The connected car suite may also receive further improvements.

Things are likely to remain unchanged under the hood. The current Exter is powered by Hyundai’s 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 82 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The same engine is also offered in a CNG variant, delivering 68 bhp and 95.2 Nm, and is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission.
