Exter’s wider price band—₹6.21–10.51 lakh—means the Pro pack sits near the mid-range, costing around ₹25,000–70,000 more than equivalent S- and SX-smart variants.
Hyundai Motor India’s compact SUV Exter has been a runaway success since its July 2023 debut, racking up 165,899 domestic sales in two years to June 2025. Riding high on value, styling and strong safety credentials, Exter has consistently contributed over one-fifth of HMIL’s UV volumes, with 17,188 units in Q1 FY2026 alone.
The newly introduced Pro pack, priced from ₹7.98 lakh (ex-showroom), injects fresh 'punch' (pardon the pun) into Exter’s appeal. Featuring an assertive wheel-arch cladding, robust side-sill garnish and a premium titan grey matte finish, it sharpens Exter’s rugged stance while adding a factory-fitted dashcam as well, which was earlier only available on the top-end variant.
Exter’s wider price band—₹6.21–10.51 lakh—means the Pro pack sits near the mid-range, costing around ₹25,000–70,000 more than equivalent S- and SX-smart variants. This premium is justified by the exclusive styling kit, new colour and added tech, positioning the pro pack as a strong draw for buyers seeking differentiation without stepping up to pricier segments.
Comparison with key rivals underscores Exter’s compelling package:
Model | Price range (₹-lakh) | Starting price premium vs. ExterPro pack |
---|---|---|
Hyundai ExterPro | 7.98 (pro pack) | — |
Nissan magnite | 6.14–11.92 | Lower by 1.84 at entry; higher top-end |
Renault kiger | 6.15–11.23 | Lower by 1.83; top variants cost ₹3.25 lakh more |
Tata punch | 6.00–10.32 | Lower by 1.98; cannot match top-end tech |
While Magnite and Kiger undercut Exter’s base variants by about ₹1.8 lakh, their top-spec models edge just above Exter’s ceiling. Tata punch delivers excellent safety and urban agility at a sub-₹10.32 lakh maximum, but lacks Exter’s broader tech suite and premium finishes.
Exter’s consistent sales momentum—crossing 100,000 units within 13 months and reaching nearly 166,000 in two years—reflects its successful blend of affordability, features and SUV styling. The pro pack arrives as an important mid-cycle refresh, reinforcing Exter’s leadership in the value-focused compact-SUV segment while fending off intensifying competition. As EV and tech-rich variants loom, Exter’s strategic updates ensure it remains front-of-mind for India’s smart-SUV buyer.
