In three decades of operations, HMIL has sold 1.35 crore vehicles in total with 96 lakh in the domestic market.
Hyundai Motor India Limited marked its 30th anniversary on Wednesday and reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market by announcing an investment of ₹45,000 crore between FY26 and FY30. This is on top of the ₹40,700 crore it has already put into the country since it was incorporated on 6 May 1996. The fresh capital will be directed towards expanding manufacturing capacity, in a push to the carmaker's electrification programme, developing future mobility technologies and bringing 26 new models to market by FY2030.
In three decades of operations, HMIL has sold 1.35 crore vehicles in total with 96 lakh in the domestic market and a further 39 lakh exported to 150 countries. The company described India as a critical global export hub, noting that it holds the distinction of being the country's largest cumulative exporter of passenger cars.
“HMIL’s 30-year journey is defined by trust earned over time and the pride of our teams delivering consistently for customers across India,” HMIL MD and CEO Tarun Garg said in a statement.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we look ahead with youthful energy and unwavering commitment, shaping mobility for India and the world.”
On the manufacturing side, HMIL runs two plants, in Chennai and Pune, whose combined annual production capacity is expected to reach 10.74 lakh units by 2028. The carmaker also operates a service network spanning 1,675 touchpoints across 1,025 cities, staffed by more than 50,000 trained service professionals.
