Hyundai’s new Bluelink feature allows owners to remotely prevent a parked vehicle from restarting, including in suspected theft cases.

Hyundai Motor India on Friday introduced a remote immobiliser for select variants of the Venue and Venue N Line, letting owners prevent a parked vehicle from being restarted through the Hyundai Bluelink app. The feature is aimed at strengthening vehicle security, including protection in cases where theft is suspected or keys have been cloned. The Hyundai Bluelink Remote Immobiliser is available on the ccNC-equipped HX10 variant of the Venue and the N10 variant of the Venue N Line.

Vehicles sold from November 2025 that meet the eligibility criteria will receive the feature through a Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) update, eliminating the need for a workshop visit.

From September 2026, Hyundai will offer the remote immobiliser as a standard feature on the ccNC-equipped Venue HX10 and Venue N Line N10. The company also plans to introduce the technology in phases across select existing Bluelink-equipped models and future connected vehicles.

Owners can activate the immobiliser through the Bluelink app when the vehicle is parked. Once enabled, the vehicle cannot be restarted without authorisation. If a theft is suspected and the function had not been activated earlier, it can also be switched on remotely. The vehicle will then remain unable to restart after it is switched off.

The system has been designed with a safety limitation: it cannot shut down or immobilise a vehicle while it is being driven. Hyundai’s live-location tracking can also assist owners and law enforcement agencies in locating a vehicle, provided it remains connected to the network.

The availability of both immobilisation and location-tracking functions is dependent on certain conditions, including uninterrupted vehicle power, untampered wiring and network connectivity.

“With Hyundai Bluelink now powering over eight lakh connected vehicles in India, we continue to strengthen our connected mobility ecosystem by delivering meaningful innovations that address evolving customer needs. Hyundai Bluelink Remote Immobiliser offers customers greater control and peace of mind by enabling them to remotely secure their parked Hyundai VENUE or VENUE N Line and respond quickly in the event of suspected theft, while incorporating safeguards that prioritise customer safety. Importantly, this feature also demonstrates the future-ready potential of Hyundai’s Software-Defined-Vehicle architecture. Through a seamless Controller Over-the-Air update, we are introducing an important new capability to eligible model variants without requiring customers to visit a workshop,” Tarun Garg, Hyundai Motor India MD and CEO, said in a statement.

The rollout also highlights Hyundai’s increasing use of software-defined vehicle architecture. C-OTA technology enables the company to update software controlling vehicle functions remotely, allowing new capabilities and improvements to be introduced without a physical service visit.

Compatible Hyundai vehicles can receive C-OTA updates across as many as 19 vehicle controllers. This gives the automaker the ability to add features and deploy software enhancements after vehicles have been delivered to customers.

The remote immobiliser is already available on the Hyundai Ioniq 5, alongside the newly eligible Venue and Venue N Line variants. Hyundai’s Bluelink platform currently supports more than eight lakh connected vehicles in India and is offered across 11 of its 15 models.

Depending on the vehicle, the system provides more than 70 connected features, covering functions such as SOS and emergency assistance, automatic crash notifications, remote vehicle status, Hyundai Pay, Digital Key and vehicle-location services. Certain Bluelink-equipped models also offer up to 492 AI-powered voice commands and multilingual interfaces across the digital cluster and infotainment system, with feature availability varying by model.
