The robot was first shown as a concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2022. The company has now turned it into a model ready for production using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Hyundai Motor Group has introduced MobED, a robots platform designed for use in factories, delivery services and research work. The company showed the robot at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025) in Tokyo from December 3 to 6.
MobED stands for Mobile Eccentric Droid. The robot was first shown as a concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2022. The company has now turned it into a model ready for production using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The robot can move on different surfaces and terrain types. It has a system that controls its position and height on uneven or sloped ground. MobED uses sensors that combine LiDAR and cameras to find and avoid obstacles. A touchscreen controller makes it possible for anyone to operate the robot without technical knowledge.

The robot comes in two versions. MobED Pro includes sensors for work outdoors and in business settings. MobED Basic is for people who want to build their own uses for the robot. Both models will go on sale in the first half of 2026.
The robot can be used for tasks like delivery, loading and unloading cargo, and video work. The platform uses rails and application programming interfaces that allow users to add different tools to it.

Hyundai Motor Group has worked on robots for some years now. In 2020, the company said it would buy Boston Dynamics, a robots firm, for 1.1 billion dollars. Boston Dynamics makes a four-legged robot called Spot. Hyundai has used Spot in factories to check for safety risks and monitor work areas.
The company also worked with another firm called Motional on a self-driving taxi. The taxi is built on the Hyundai IONIQ 5 car model and can move without a driver. It has run in Las Vegas with more than 100,000 public trips.
MobED marks Hyundai Motor Group's move into making robots for sale. The company plans to produce the robot at scale in the coming years.
