Production-spec models of the Hyundai Earth and Venus concepts are expected to launch in China sometime in 2027.
Hyundai Motor Company has officially unveiled the all‑electric Ioniq lineup brand in China ahead of its debut at the upcoming edition of the Beijing Motor Show which kicks off later this week. Under the Ioniq brand, Hyundai has showcased two new concept EVs — Earth and Venus — the former being a family SUV whereas the latter being a sedan.
Both concepts highlight Hyundai’s readiness for China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market. These two concepts represent early outcomes of Hyundai’s revised strategy for China, and are intended to serve as design references for future Ioniq production models in the country. Key advancements of these concept models include autonomous driving systems developed with local partners and market-specific solutions such as extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
Drawing inspiration from the brightest planet, the VENUS concept reimagines what a modern sedan icon could look like. On the outside, it wears a distinctive ‘Radiant Gold’ finish that hints at themes of discovery and progress. The design leans heavily on futuristic elements, including a lightweight, frame-style roof and a transparent rear spoiler. A flowing, single-curve silhouette gives the car a clean yet expressive stance, helping it stand out without appearing overdone.

Inside, the layout is clearly centred around the driver, with a wrap-around cockpit that uses layered ambient lighting to create a warm, almost atmospheric glow. The choice of materials adds contrast — soft suede surfaces sit alongside more rigid, chrome-gold seatback panels — bringing a mix of comfort and visual structure. There’s also a playful touch in the form of a ‘Lumi’ character integrated into the cabin, aimed at creating a more engaging connection between the driver and the vehicle.

Inspired by the energy and balance of our home planet, the EARTH concept takes shape as a bold, family-oriented SUV with a strong visual presence. On the exterior, it’s finished in a shade called ‘Aurora Shield’. The design plays with contrasts — sharp lines meet sculpted surfaces — to create a look that feels both futuristic and rugged. Details like prominent skid plates and exposed bolt accents add to its tough, almost industrial character.

Inside, the cabin is imagined as a calming, self-contained space. It features ‘air-hug’ seats made using soft, air-filled modules, aimed at improving comfort. Ambient lighting mimics the dappled effect of light through trees, giving the interior a relaxed, natural feel. Subtle ‘shy-tech’ elements keep the layout clean and uncluttered, while playful touches like the ‘Aero’ character and hidden map patterns of Beijing introduce a sense of exploration.
