Hyundai appears to be in the advanced stages of developing the next-generation Venue, with the subcompact SUV recently spotted undergoing road tests. The heavily camouflaged test mule was seen on public roads, suggesting the automaker is preparing the model for a launch likely slated for the end of 2025.
The Venue, which plays a critical role in Hyundai’s sub-four-metre SUV portfolio, is set to receive a significant design overhaul. Despite the comprehensive camouflage on the prototype, several visual updates are evident. At the front, the new-gen Venue sports a redesigned rectangular grille with smaller rectangular mesh inserts. The headlamp setup also receives a notable revision. It now appears in a fresh split design, flanked by pronounced cladding around the wheel arches and new, grey-finished roof rails.
Additional cosmetic enhancements visible on the test vehicle include new machined alloy wheels, redesigned two-piece LED tail lamps, and updated front and rear bumpers. Notably, the front bumper houses an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) sensor, hinting at potential safety feature upgrades. The presence of parking sensors on both ends, along with a shark-fin antenna and badges on the front fender, further signals an evolution in design and feature offerings. Another key mechanical addition is the presence of rear disc brakes—currently available only on the Venue N Line variant—suggesting a wider rollout in the new lineup.
While interior details remain under wraps, we expect a comprehensive cabin revamp. Anticipated features include a panoramic sunroof, new seat upholstery, and ventilated front seats, among other enhancements that could improve the overall comfort and technological appeal of the SUV.
Mechanically, the next-generation Venue is expected to retain the current model's engine lineup. This includes the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel units. These are likely to be paired with existing transmission choices: a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Upon launch, the new Hyundai Venue will continue to compete in the highly contested subcompact SUV segment, facing off against models such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, and Tata Nexon, among others.
