Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its all-new electric GLC with EQ Technology at the IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich, showcasing ground-breaking interior technology that signals the future direction of the German luxury marque's digital evolution.
The electric GLC, set for a spring 2026 market launch, introduces the largest MBUX Hyperscreen ever fitted to a Mercedes-Benz production vehicle. Measuring an impressive 99.3 centimetres (39.1 inches), this seamless display stretches from pillar to pillar, creating what Mercedes describes as a "welcome home" feeling that only the brand can evoke.
The revolutionary MBUX Hyperscreen incorporates ground-breaking matrix backlight technology featuring over 1,000 individual LEDs. This advanced system includes intelligent zone dimming capabilities, allowing simultaneous adjustment of two display areas via sliders to ensure key information remains clear and accessible whilst reducing driver distraction. Mercedes-Benz has filed a patent for this innovative technology, underscoring its significance in the company's digital strategy.

The system runs on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which powers an elevated interior experience with high-resolution atmospheric ambient styles as background motifs. These emotional themes coordinate with the instrument cluster, control elements, and ambient lighting to create a personalised atmosphere where physical and digital worlds blend seamlessly.
This technological advancement represents just the beginning of Mercedes-Benz's comprehensive digital transformation. The company has confirmed that the MBUX Hyperscreen technology, already deployed in the EQS and EQE models, will gradually migrate across the entire Mercedes-Benz portfolio. The C-Class and S-Class have already received MBUX Zero Layer functionality, previously exclusive to electric models.

The new MB.OS operating system, debuting with the 2026 CLA, represents the fourth generation of MBUX technology and integrates artificial intelligence from Microsoft and Google. This chip-to-cloud architecture will standardise across every future Mercedes-Benz model, enabling real-time software updates throughout the vehicle's lifespan.
Mercedes-Benz has outlined an ambitious electrification timeline that will see this technology spread rapidly across its range. The electric GLC will be followed by the electric C-Class approximately six months later in late 2026. An all-electric E-Class, initially planned for 2028, has been brought forward to 2027 and will utilise the same MB.EA-M architecture as the GLC.
The company's strategy involves launching 15 electric vehicles by 2027, with plans for electric versions of the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class all in development. Each will incorporate advanced iterations of the MBUX Hyperscreen technology and MB.OS platform, ensuring a consistent premium digital experience across the entire Mercedes-Benz electric lineup.
This technological integration represents Mercedes-Benz's commitment to maintaining its position as a leader in automotive luxury whilst adapting to the digital age, with the electric GLC serving as the blueprint for the brand's electrified future.
