The 390 Adventure S is going to be the most balanced option of the lot with a whole lot of electronics and adjustability thrown into the mix
KTM India has unveiled two new 390 cc adventure bikes at the ongoing India Bike Week 2024. One of the most feature-rich and premium option of them is the new 2024 KTM 390 Adventure S. It slots below the proper, hardcore, off-roader KTM 390 Enduro R. Prices for the new 390 Adventure family will be revealed next month by the end of January, along with its official specs as well.
Mechanically, the KTM 390 Adventure S will be powered by the same 399 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 44.2 bhp and 39 Nm in the 390 Duke. While KTM India has not revealed the official spec of the adventure bike, it will be revealed when it launches. However, expect the final drive to be altered to make it more suited for off-roading and highway touring.
Design-wise, the KTM 390 Adventure S boasts the same tall tower design that left us gaping when we first saw it in the KTM 390 Adventure R in Milan at EICMA 2024. So, the same continues here as well, albeit in a slightly toned down, less screaming colour options. The new all-LED headlight double-projector headlamp unit is the same, and the sleek, tapered off rear end remains the same too.
With a new body style comes an updated chassis — and while KTM has kept the the same trellis architecture, the subframe has been redesigned and is now lighter than before. As a result, the overall kerb weight of the bike has also decreased. The chassis will continue to be sprung by WP Apex-sourced USD fork and mono shock with fully adjustable functionalities. And it will ride on a 21-/17-inch wheel combination shod with Apollo Tramper tyres. The seat height seemed pretty daunting, almost at around 820-ish mm.
On the features front, the KTM 390 Adventure S will be available with a 5-inch colour TFT dash from the 390 Duke. It supports Bluetooth connectivity and thereby call/SMS alert, turn-by-turn navigation, and music playback controls. Additionally, traction control, off-road ABS, cornering ABS, etc are also available as standard. But the biggest talking point will be cruise control, something that we haven’t seen in the sub-400 cc segment yet.
While we wish that the KTM 390 Adventure R was coming to India, the new 390 Adventure S fits the bill in its place more than adequately as well. All the upgrades and features that are available with the new 390 Adventure Sit will command quite a hefty asking price. We expect it will be somewhere between ₹3.40 – ₹3.50 lakh.
