The growth was led by utility vehicles (UVs), which recorded a 13.5 per cent rise to 2,36,957 units.
India's passenger vehicle wholesale volumes climbed 10.6 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in February 2026, with auto manufacturers dispatching 4,17,705 units to dealerships as broadly positive market conditions persisted, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data showed on Friday. The figure compares with 3,77,689 units shipped in the same month a year earlier.
The growth was led overwhelmingly by utility vehicles (UVs), which recorded a 13.5 per cent rise to 2,36,957 units from 2,08,795 units in February 2025. Passenger cars, however, moved in the opposite direction, falling 3.8 per cent to 1,06,799 units against 1,10,966 units in the prior-year period.
Van dispatches edged up 1.1 per cent to 11,620 units from 11,493 units a year ago.
The two-wheeler segment delivered the headline figure of the month, with sales surging 35.2 per cent to 18,71,406 units compared with 13,84,605 units in February 2025.
Motorcycles accounted for 10,96,537 units of that total, a rise of 30.8 per cent on the 8,38,250 units sold in the year-ago month, while scooter volumes jumped 42.3 per cent to 7,29,774 units from 5,12,783 units previously.
Three-wheeler dispatches also posted strong growth, rising 29 per cent to 74,573 units against 57,788 units in February last year.
SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said the results represented a landmark month for the sector.
"Positive sentiments in the industry continue as passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers posted their highest ever sales of February in 2026, with double-digit growth compared to February 2025," Menon said.
He cautioned, however, that the near-term outlook carries risks.
"While March has festive drivers in several parts of the country, the recent conflict in West Asia remains a concern, both from the perspective of the supply chain, which could impact the manufacturing processes and exports," Menon said, adding that the industry would monitor geopolitical developments closely.
