Tata Motors' sales showed consistent month-on-month progression, rising from 4,436 units in April to 7,239 units in October.

Tata Motors has extended its position as the leading electric vehicle manufacturer in India, commanding a 38.56 per cent market share from April to October 2025. The company sold 7,118 units in October, a 40 per cent market share for the month, followed by rival manufacturers gaining ground in the expanding sector.

The Indian electric vehicle segment has witnessed significant growth in the first ten months of 2025. Total electric car registrations reached 119,332 units between April and October, already surpassing the entire previous fiscal year's sales of 117,072 units. This represents a near doubling of market penetration, with electric vehicles accounting for 4.6 per cent of all passenger vehicles sold compared to 2.1 per cent in the same period last year.

Tata Motors' sales showed consistent month-on-month progression, rising from 4,436 units in April to 7,239 units in October. The company's portfolio, which includes the Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Sierra EV and Harrier EV, contributed to this expansion.

October 2025 recorded the highest overall electric vehicle registrations to date, with 17,874 units delivered across India. This represented a 56 per cent increase from 11,444 units in October 2024 and a 9 per cent month-on-month growth from September's 16,354 units. The festive season buying pattern and reduced price gaps between electric and petrol vehicles following recent GST rate changes drove this momentum.

Other manufacturers showed varied performance. Kia emerged as the fourth-ranked EV maker with 655 units sold in October, a 1,293 per cent jump from 47 units a year earlier. BYD India delivered 560 units, whilst Hyundai registered 437 units.

Year-on-year passenger electric vehicle sales in September 2025 reached 15,329 units, jumping 148 per cent from 6,191 units in September 2024. Tata Motors led with 6,216 units, up 62 per cent from 3,833 units. JSW MG Motor recorded 3,912 units compared to 1,200 units previously, whilst Mahindra delivered 3,243 units against 475 units the previous year.
