The collector's edition marks 85 years of the Jeep brand and introduces Stellantis's CARA voice assistant to the SUV's cabin.

Jeep India has launched the Meridian 85th Anniversary Edition, a limited-run collector's variant priced from ₹36.05 lakh (ex-showroom), restricted to just 85 units nationwide to mark 85 years of the Jeep brand globally. The edition goes on sale immediately through authorised Jeep dealerships and the company's website. The standard Meridian featuring CARA will continue to be offered from ₹30.45 lakh.

Built on the Jeep Meridian's Overland trim, the anniversary model is aimed squarely at buyers seeking exclusivity rather than incremental features. It gets Gloss Black 18-inch alloy wheels, 85th Anniversary badging and design cues, and an all-black cabin finished with Mayan Gold accents. Jeep is also offering curated Anniversary AXS packages, allowing buyers to add carpet floor mats, an anniversary decal kit, ambient lighting, and Sky Lounge sunroof illumination — a personalisation route increasingly common among premium SUV makers in India as they try to differentiate low-volume special editions from their regular lineups.

The bigger technological shift, however, is the introduction of CARA AI on the Meridian. The voice assistant, developed by Stellantis, allows occupants to control navigation, reminders, weather updates, calls and music, and to ask general knowledge questions through natural speech, in 52 languages including several Indian ones. Its rollout on the Meridian brings Jeep into a segment where rivals have already pushed conversational, cloud-linked assistants as a way of justifying premium pricing, and signals that Stellantis intends to lean on software differentiation in a market where mechanical specifications alone rarely move buyers anymore.

"For 85 years, Jeep has represented far more than a vehicle. It has symbolised freedom, exploration and the confidence to go wherever the journey leads," said Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director – Automotive Brands, Stellantis India. "The Meridian 85th Anniversary Edition is our tribute to this legacy and to the passionate community that has helped shape the Jeep story over generations."

The launch comes as premium SUV demand in India continues to outpace the broader passenger vehicle market, with buyers increasingly willing to pay for badge value, personalisation, and connected features rather than raw capability alone. Jeep, which has struggled for volumes in India compared with mainstream and mass-premium rivals, has instead leaned on scarcity and heritage positioning with the Meridian and Compass ranges. A strictly capped run such as this is unlikely to move overall sales meaningfully, but it keeps the brand visible in a segment where perception matters as much as unit numbers.

With CARA now extended to the Meridian, Jeep appears to be using the anniversary edition as a testbed for wider in-car voice assistant deployment across its India portfolio, an area where Stellantis has been comparatively slow against domestic and Korean competitors already offering similar functionality as standard.
