The MG Windsor is the second Wuling model that is coming to India as an MG product.
JSW MG Motor India has announced that its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) will be called the Windsor. The new EV is a derivative of the Wuling Cloud EV that is available in the overseas market. The Windsor is the second Wuling model in India that is being rebadged as an MG model, the first being the MG Comet.
While details of the Windsor are currently under wraps, it is expected to remain unchanged compared to the Cloud EV. This means the upcoming MG EV will have a 50.6 kWh battery pack that will give it a claimed range of more than 450 km. It is also expected to get a front axle-mounted electric motor with 134 bhp and 200 Nm, coupled with a 1-speed automatic transmission. It is expected to be charged from 20 - 100 per cent in seven hours using an AC charger, while it takes 30 minutes to charge 30 - 100 per cent using a DC fast charger.
The Windsor is likely to have the same dimensions as the Wuling Cloud EV. The latter measures 4295 mm, 1850 mm and 1652 mm in length, width and height, respectively and has a wheelbase of 2700 mm.
MG’s upcoming EV is expected to have a full-width LED light bar at the front, a spilt-headlamp design, a front fender-mounted charging port, flush-mounted door handles and a light bar connecting the taillamps.
Inside, the Windsor is likely to come with front seats that recline fully and fold flat. It is also expected to get a freestanding, 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, rose-gold accents in the interior, a 360-degree camera, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and more. For safety, it is expected to get four airbags, ESC, hill hold assist, ISOFIX, and ADAS among others.
When launched, the Windsor is expected to rival the BYD e6 (₹29.15 lakh) as well as the upcoming Kia Carens EV. Expect it to be priced around ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
