JSW Motors plans to bring a plug-in hybrid and a range extender vehicle to market in 2026.
JSW Group's automotive arm is preparing to open a network of company-owned experience centres across India before it launches its first vehicle in the second half of 2026, as the Sajjan Jindal-led conglomerate moves to carve out a presence in the country's fast-growing electrified vehicle market. According to news agency Bloomberg, JSW Motors intends to establish at least four such centres in major cities including Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad ahead of its debut product, which is expected to be an upscale plug-in hybrid vehicle.
A JSW Motors spokesperson, as quoted in the report, said the company will start with experience centres conceived as curated spaces where customers can engage with its products and get to grips with the underlying technology. The spokesperson confirmed that JSW Motors plans to bring a plug-in hybrid and a range extender vehicle to market in 2026, with a broader portfolio rollout across segments and powertrains to follow in phases.
The move represents JSW's first independent passenger vehicle brand, separate from its existing joint venture with China's SAIC Motor -- JSW MG Motor India. The Bloomberg report noted that the strategy reflects surging demand for electrified vehicles in India, driven by tighter emissions standards and a growing consumer interest in running costs.
The experience centres will be owned and run directly by JSW Motors before the company transitions to a conventional dealer network. The approach is designed to give the brand tighter control over customer experience, pricing and positioning during its early stages.
JSW Motors has already begun approaching prospective dealer partners and is expected to unveil its initial product lineup around June or July. Vehicles developed under a separate partnership with China's Chery Automobile will also carry the JSW badge, according to the report.
Meanwhile, JSW Group is constructing a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra dedicated to new-energy vehicles.
The plant will additionally support electrified trucks and buses under JSW Greentech Ltd, which will initially serve the group's internal fleet before opening to external customers.
