Hero MotoCorp on Thursday named Kausalya Nandakumar as its new chief business officer (CBO) for the emerging mobility business unit, effective immediately. The appointment comes at a time when the two-wheeler major has intensified its electric vehicle (EV) strategy.
Nandakumar brings nearly two decades of automotive industry experience, having spent 18 years with the Mahindra Group. Her most recent role was chief operating officer at Mahindra Electric Automobile, where she gained valuable expertise in electric mobility solutions.
Nandakumar's career spans multiple automotive sectors, with particular emphasis on electric mobility and digital transformation initiatives. Her leadership experience includes driving business growth through strategic ventures and innovation programs.
Her professional journey at Mahindra included heading Business Transformation at the Farm Division and serving as CEO of SmartShift, demonstrating her versatility across different business verticals.
The new appointment follows the departure of Swadesh Srivastava, who stepped down from the CBO position citing health concerns, according to Hero MotoCorp's regulatory submissions, as reported by ET Auto. To facilitate a seamless handover, Srivastava will collaborate with Nandakumar during a transitional period.
"We thank him for his contributions and wish him good health and continued success in his future endeavours. Kausalya's appointment reinforces Hero MotoCorp's ambition to lead the next era of mobility," the company stated.
In her new capacity, Nandakumar will report directly to Dr. Pawan Munjal, executive chairman, who has been instrumental in shaping Hero MotoCorp's Vida electric vehicle strategy. The company is making significant investments in its Vida brand, planning to introduce more affordable electric vehicle models while expanding charging infrastructure across India.
In her new role, she is positioned to steer Hero MotoCorp's mobility transformation through innovative business models, technological advancement, and sustainable growth strategies. Nandakumar holds advanced educational qualifications, including a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University.
