The latest discount comes shortly after the launch of the Kawasaki Ninja 500.
Kawasaki India has announced a discount of ₹40,000 for the Ninja 400 that will be applicable on its ex-showroom price of ₹5.24 lakh. This price reduction means the Ninja 400 will be slightly more affordable than the Ninja 500, up until March 31 at the latest.
Kawasaki launched the Ninja 500 a few days ago at the same ₹5.24 lakh, ex-showroom price. The new Ninja also introduced a bigger 451 cc, parallel-twin mill, which also does duties in the Kawasaki Eliminator 450 cruiser bike. However, despite a bigger engine the Ninja 500 produces 44 bhp at 9000 rpm, and the Ninja 400 produces the same at 10,000 rpm. Torque output is obviously more in Ninja 500 at 42.6 Nm, while the Ninja 400 produces 37 Nm.
Both the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and Ninja 500 are built on the same trellis frame structure, suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock. Albeit the difference in design, both also equip LED headlights and tail light. However, for ₹40,000 less, the Ninja 400 misses out on a fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, and an assist and slipper clutch, which are otherwise available as standard with the Ninja 500.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 also replaces the Ninja 400, and the same has been implemented in European and American markets. However, in India, both motorcycles continue to sell alongside, perhaps until stocks last. We think that Kawasaki India will pull the plug on the 400 eventually but not on the Ninja 300, though.
