It has undergone a massive price cut
Kawasaki has launched a lower-priced variant of the W175, priced at ₹1.22 lakh (ex-showroom India), which is ₹13,000 cheaper than the W175 Street. More so, it is now almost Rs 25,000 less than the previous price tag that the Japanese bike maker had slapped on for the puny retro machine. Check out the changes Kawasaki has made to the motorcycle.
This lower spoke wheel variant of the Kawasaki W175 comes in four colour options. The single colour Ebony is offered at ₹1.22 lakh, whereas the other options like Candy Persimmon Red, Metallic Graphite Grey, and Metallic Ocean Blue are priced at ₹1.24 lakh, ₹1.29 lakh, and ₹1.31 lakh, respectively.
These new colours come with different paint schemes where the blue and red get pin stripes around the badge. The Metallic Graphite Grey is a matte finish and gets a big W logo on the tank instead of the chrome badge on the others.
Kawasaki offers spoke wheels on this lower variant. These 17-inch wheels are mounted on the same suspension as the W175 Street. There are no changes in the brakes either, with a 270 mm front disc and a drum brake at the rear. This bike also gets single-channel ABS.
There are no changes to the engine, and it is the same 177 cc air-cooled engine that produces 13 bhp and 13 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with no slipper clutch or quickshifter. Mechanically this bike is pretty basic as is the case with electronics. Kawasaki only claims that the headlight bulb is 60W which is significantly brighter than the competition.
Apart from this, the bike is fairly the same setup as the recently updated W175 Street. This lower pricing with spoke wheels makes the bike more accessible, along with adding retro charm with spoke wheels. This pricing of ₹1.22 lakh also makes it one of the affordable retro styling bikes. It will be interesting to check out whether the audiences will now go for the W175 or still put their money down for something like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350.
