Kia India is gearing up to launch the Carens Clavis EV in India on July 15, 2025. The Clavis EV is the first mass-market electric vehicle for Kia India. Prices for the Clavis EV are also expected to be announced tomorrow, and could range between ₹18 - 26 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Clavis EV will be the all-electric version of the Carens Clavis MPV, which is essentially the facelifted version of the Carens. Because it is based on the Carens Clavis, it shares the majority of its design language with the ICE version, but of course, with certain EV-specific touches.
It will have its charging port in the front, like the Hyundai Creta Electric, with the same four dots indicating the charging status. At the front, it will also have a full-width LED light bar, which was there on the Carens Clavis ICE but wasn’t lit up. Expect the EV to have a different design for the alloy wheels.
Inside, the Clavis EV will be a little different from the ICE, especially the centre console design. Since it will have a flat floor, expect it to have a floating centre like the Kia EV6 and EV9. Apart from this, the majority of the interior will be the same as the Clavis ICE. The Clavis EV is likely to come only as a 7-seater.
Powering the Clavis EV is expected to be the same battery and motor combinations as the Creta Electric. Expect it to get a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack with an electric motor mounted on the front axle. However, expect the range to be slightly better than the Creta Electric.
The Clavis EV will be a unique model in the Indian automotive industry. It will have no direct rival but will compete with the likes of the BYD eMAX 7 (₹26.90 - 29.90 lakh) as well as the Toyota Innova Hycross (₹19.09 - 32.58 lakh) and Maruti Suzuki Invicto (₹25.51 - 29.32 lakh)
