The Carens Clavis EV won’t look very different from its ICE counterpart.
Kia India is all set to launch the Carens Clavis EV in India in the coming weeks, and it has been spotted testing in India again. The Carens Clavis EV will be the first mass-market electric vehicle from Kia India, and will be based on the Carens Clavis MPV, as the name suggests.
The design of the electric MPV won’t stray very far from its ICE counterpart, but it will definitely have some EV-specific elements to set it apart from the Carens Clavis ICE. One of the biggest differences will be the design of the alloy wheels, which will look quite similar to other EVs from the brand. Other differences could include a slightly altered fascia, along with a slightly different rear-end, too.
Inside, too, don’t expect the Clavis EV to have quite a lot of differences compared to the Clavis ICE. Kia India will give it a few EV-specific touches, but overall will remain quite similar. Expect it to also get a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch virtual cluster, as well as a swappable menu screen for the AC and infotainment system.
As for the powertrain, expect the Clavis EV to get one similar to the Hyundai Creta Electric, as it will help Kia reduce development costs. However, it could come with different battery packs as it is a larger car and would need bigger ones for better range. More details about the car should be revealed closer to the launch.
The Carens Clavis EV will be the most affordable electric MPV in the country, and expect its prices to start around ₹17 lakh and go up to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). As for the rivals, it would compete with the BYD eMAX 7, but that will be more expensive at ₹26.90 - 29.90 lakh. Other alternatives will include the Carens Clavis ICE, Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto.
