The fourth-gen Carnival gets a slightly redesigned interior and new features.
Just days after revealing the exterior of the fourth-gen Carnival facelift, Kia has now released more details about the upcoming MPV. The new model will get three seating configurations and while the design remains largely similar, it gets new features.
The highlight of the interior of the Carnival facelift is the new instrument binnacle with two 12.3-inch displays, one for the infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster. Both the screens are mounted in a curved housing, facing the driver. The third and fourth screens in the Carnival facelift are two 14.6-inch full-HD monitors for the rear passengers that can stream videos and OTT content. Kia claims that these monitors can view content independently.
Other features on offer in the Carnival facelift include a head-up display, air purifier, wireless charger, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control and digital IRVM. Like the new Verna, the Carnival also gets a switchable touch panel that houses infotainment and climate control switches.
The dashboard of the Carnival has been refreshed with the facelift. While the basic layout remains similar, it gets a redesigned centre console that instead of merging with the HVAC control panel, ends at the dashboard. The centre of the dashboard also houses a horizontal ambient lighting strip.
As mentioned, the Carnival facelift gets three seating configurations – four, seven and nine. Safety features on the Carnival facelift include an ADAS suite with rear collision prevention assist, rear cross-traffic collision prevention assist, forward collision avoidance assist, highway driving assist and more. It also gets up to eight airbags.
While Kia had announced the new 1.6-litre turbo-petrol-hybrid engine, it has now announced that it will produce 245 bhp and 367 Nm of torque. Kia also mentions that the hybrid Carnival has a fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl and comes with three modes – E-Ride, E-Handling and E-EHA (Evasive Handling Assist).
The Carnival hybrid also gets hybrid-specific, 18-inch alloy wheels that look similar to the ones seen on the Kia EV5. Other engines on offer include the existing 290 bhp, 3.5-litre V6 petrol and the 198 bhp, 2.2-litre diesel.
