Buyers of the EV9 will have to wait around three months, while Carnival will have a wait time of around six months.
At a recent media interaction, Kia India’s Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing, Hardeep Singh Brar, revealed the waiting period for the EV9 SUV and Carnival MPV. The EV9 will be built according to customers’ orders and will be delivered in around three months. On the other hand, the Carnival will have a wait time of around six months.
Speaking on the waiting period of the EV9, Brar said, “We will not stock (the EV9) too much, we will have test cars in 20 dealerships for people to take a look and see. Because there are five colours and we need to decide which colour they want, so we will be taking orders and then importing it. So there's going to be a lead time of two to three months.”
The EV9 is priced at ₹1.30 crore (ex-showroom, India) and is a three-row electric SUV, which was also crowned as the 2024 World Car of the Year. The EV9 is available in only one variant – GT-Line AWD 6-seater – and is powered by a 99.8 kWh battery with a claimed range of 561 km (ARAI). Its dual-electric motors produce 379 bhp and 700 Nm, allowing it to sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds. To know more about the EV9, head here.
On the topic of the waiting period of the Carnival, Brar said, “So, when last we sold 3,500 cars in 2022 and we've already got close to 3000 bookings or it's going to be, at least looks like right now, it would be about six months.”
Unlike the EV9, which will be a completely built unit (CBU) or full import, the Carnival will be brought to India as a semi-knocked down (SKD) unit and will be assembled at the Anantapur factory in Andhra Pradesh. The Carnival, launched at ₹63.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), is also available in only one variant and to know more about it, click here.
