Kia is the youngest carmaker in this regard to cross this production milestone in the country with all these cars.
Kia India has reached a significant manufacturing milestone today with the production of its 1.5 millionth vehicle at its Anantapur manufacturing plant. Fittingly, the milestone vehicle was the Carens MPV which is again slated to receive an update May 8. The upcoming model has been touted to be “smarter, safer and more advanced”.
Kia entered India with the Seltos in August 2019, and since then has quickly established itself as a leading carmaker. The Anantapur manufacturing facility has been central to this success, with its advanced production capabilities across a 536-acre site. Of the 1.5 million vehicles produced at this plant, the Seltos accounts for the largest share with over 700,668 units (46.7 per cent), followed by the Sonet with 519,064 units (34.6 per cent). The Carens represents 241,582 units (16.1 per cent), while the newer Syros has reached 23,036 units (1.5 per cent). The premium Carnival rounds out the production figures with 16,172 units (1.1 per cent). The plant also serves as a significant export hub, shipping vehicles to more than 90 countries worldwide.

Kia continues to expand its vehicle lineup to serve various market segments. Like the Syros that was launched earlier this year as a compact SUV and is ideal for the urban market.
Speaking at the event, Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, expressed his pride in the accomplishment. "Rolling out our 1.5 millionth 'Make in India' vehicle is a proud and emotional moment for Kia India and every partner who has been a part of this journey. From the very first Seltos to the 1.5 millionth Carens today, each car stands as a testament to the trust, love, and support of our customers and partners," he concluded.
