The new Seltos was the standout performer during the month, surpassing 10,000 units in sales every month since its launch in January of this year.

Kia India on Monday posted its best-ever May sales since the brand's inception in the country, with wholesale volumes reaching 27,586 units during the month, a 23.6 per cent year-on-year increase from 22,315 units recorded in May 2025. The carmaker attributed the performance to sustained customer demand across its model range and continued brand momentum in the Indian market.

On a year-to-date basis, Kia India's cumulative sales through May 2026 hit 1,39,197 units, compared with 1,21,514 units in the corresponding period of 2025, representing a 14.6 per cent increase. The company said the growth has been underpinned by consistent demand across its portfolio, alongside its focus on premium, technology-driven and future-ready mobility offerings.

"Our highest-ever May sales performance reflects the strong alignment of our product portfolio with evolving customer preferences across segments. The continued strong demand for the new Seltos along with Sonet, coupled with the encouraging response to the Carens Clavis, Clavis EV and the MY26 Syros, has helped us sustain our growth momentum.

"At the same time, recent initiatives like our Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program are playing an important role in making electric mobility more accessible and practical for customers. As we continue to strengthen our presence across the country, our focus remains on delivering innovative products, premium ownership experiences and technologies that are relevant to the evolving needs of Indian consumers," Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said in a statement.

The new Seltos was the standout performer during the month, surpassing 10,000 units in sales every month since its launch in January 2026.

The Sonet continued to hold its ground in the compact SUV segment, with the company noting that broader availability of automatic transmission options across petrol and diesel variants has improved its accessibility to buyers.

The MY26 Kia Syros also drew a positive response, supported by a revised variant structure, wider automatic transmission availability and an improved overall value proposition.

Rounding out Kia's family-oriented line-up, the Carens Clavis and its electric counterpart, the Clavis EV, continued to gain traction among buyers seeking versatile seating and advanced features. The recently introduced Battery-as-a-Service programme was highlighted as a further step towards reducing the cost of entry into electric mobility and improving convenience for EV customers.
