The K4 is the first Kia to follow the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ design language.
Kia has revealed its latest sedan, ahead of its global debut at the New York Auto Show later this month. It follows Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language and is the first vehicle to be based on the new design philosophy.
Despite the new design language, the K4 has a lot of design elements similar to the latest Kia models. The K4 gets vertically stacked LED headlights flank the thin grille, and it also gets T-shaped LED DRLs. In profile, the K4 gets muscular wheel arches that flatten out towards the doors. The rear door handle has been neatly hidden in the C pillar and the roof has a fastback-like design. Even the taillights are very similar to the ones seen on the Sonet and Seltos facelift as it has C-shaped LED light elements.
Inside, Kia says it has ditched the ‘driver-oriented’ interior design for a more traditional design language. While most new Kia models like the EV9 and EV5 get a four-spoke steering wheel, the K4 gets a two-spoke steering wheel. Front and centre on the dashboard are the two large screens with one for the infotainment system and the other for the driver’s display.
Kia says it has deliberately kept physical buttons to a minimum. The only physical keys in the dashboard control the AC temperature, fan speed, hazard light, six keys for the infotainment system and a scroller for the volume. The central and the passenger AC vents are integrated into a single unit to make it look seamless. The K4 will get multiple interior colour options like Grey, Green, Brown and Black.
While powertrain details are expected to be revealed at the New York Auto Show on March 27, it is confirmed that the K4 will get an automatic gearbox.
