Kia says top variants of the Seltos contribute 29 per cent of total sales, indicating strong demand for higher-spec trims with more safety and connectivity features.
Kia India has announced that the Seltos has crossed 6 lakh cumulative sales in the domestic market since its launch in August 2019. This makes the compact SUV one of the highest-selling models in its segment and the main volume driver for the brand in the country.
Kia began mass production in India in August 2019, with the Seltos as its first model. Within the first 11 months, Kia crossed the 1 lakh cumulative sales mark in India, with the Seltos accounting for 97,745 units. By August 2024, the Seltos had reached cumulative sales of about 4.92 lakh units in India, contributing around 48 per cent to Kia’s total domestic despatches. Kia now reports that Seltos cumulative sales in India have crossed 6 lakh units as of February 2026.

Kia says top variants of the Seltos contribute 29 per cent of total sales, indicating strong demand for higher-spec trims with more safety and connectivity features. The model is sold with multiple petrol and diesel powertrains and offers automatic transmissions across fuel types. Kia positions the new-generation Seltos as the anchor of its compact SUV strategy as it enters the next phase of growth in India.

The Hyundai Creta remains the segment benchmark on volumes, with cumulative domestic sales crossing 12 lakh units in India since its launch in July 2015. Hyundai says the Creta has maintained a market share of over 31 per cent in the mid-size SUV segment and has been one of the best-selling SUVs in the country.
By comparison, Kia’s Seltos has reached over 6 lakh domestic units in about six and a half years, from August 2019 to early 2026. This places the Seltos roughly at half the Creta’s domestic volume, but over a shorter on-sale period. Industry data also shows that the Seltos has contributed nearly half of Kia India’s total cumulative sales, highlighting its role as the company’s mainstay in the mid-SUV space.
