After making its global debut last month, the Kia Sonet facelift is all set to launch in India on January 12, 2024. Bookings for the Sonet facelift opened last month for a token amount of ₹25,000. Deliveries of the subcompact SUV are also set to begin this month, except for the diesel manual variants, which are scheduled to be delivered from February onwards.
Kia has given the Sonet facelift a new design for the grille, headlights with a C-shaped LED light signature, bumpers, and tail lights with a light bar. It also gets new designs for the alloy wheels. The Sonet facelift also gets new upholstery and a new panel for the climate controls.
In terms of features, the Sonet facelift continues with the 10.25-inch infotainment system but now has a 360-degree camera. However, it now gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster from the Seltos facelift.
A major addition to the Kia Sonet facelift is ADAS with 10 ADAS features like the Hyundai Venue facelift. It gets features like forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assistance, leading vehicle departure warning, lane keep assist and more. The Sonet also gets 25 safety features and more than 70 connected car features.
Under the hood, the Sonet facelift continues a 118 bhp, 172 Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, 82 bhp, 115 Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 114 bhp, 250 Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The petrol engine continues to be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and the turbo-petrol engine continues with the 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine also gets the option of the 6-speed iMT and the 6-speed automatic gearbox, but it also gets the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox once again.
While the pre-facelift Kia Sonet was priced between ₹7.79 lakh and ₹14.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India), expect the facelift to be priced at a slight premium. It continues to rival the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
