Kia Vision Meta Turismo Concept Unveiled to Celebrate 80th Anniversary

Hyundai Motor Group is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its Kia brand with a commemorative exhibition that tells its story, with 17 vehicles from various points in its history on display. The company aslo unveiled a new concept car, called the Kia Vision Meta Turismo, at a special event at Kia Vision Square, its own event space and training centre.

The Vision Meta Turismo concept is said to embody Kia’s vision for “a new era of mobility”, and is designed as a performance showcase with a spacious lounge-like interior. Its silhouette combines a smooth, curved roofline with angular, geometric sides. The distinct split headlights form an X pattern, with the upper segments integrated into protrusions that seem to house rear-facing cameras rather than standard mirrors. There are no visible door handles.

It has a full-width augmented reality heads-up display across the lower windshield, which adapts to the driving mode selected – Speedster, Dreamer, or Gamer. The dashboard is otherwise sparse, with no screen or visible physical controls. A specially designed yoke-style steering wheel can be seen with a small screen perched above it, and Kia says it “reimagines the next-generation intuitive driving interface”. Drivers can see graphics as if they are floating above the road in 3D, thanks to the use of what Kia calls “smart glass”.

The gold driver’s seat contrasts with the off-white interior of the rest of the cabin. There also appears to be a joystick within reach of the driver, though Kia has not yet said anything about its purpose. 

No details of the car’s engine, and no performance specifications have yet been revealed. Additional details are set to be announced in the near future. It is also not yet clear whether this design will be the basis of a production car, though fans online have noted that it matches what a next-gen Kia Stinger might ultimately look like. 

The rest of Kia’s anniversary showcase covers eight zones, with exhibits detailing its history from being a bicycle manufacturing company to the launch of its latest models such as the EV6 GT, as well as highlighting its sustainability initiatives, and the contributions of key employees.
