These subtle additions make the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 more functional for adventure touring.
Kijima is a renowned Japanese motorcycle parts and accessories manufacturer who has built dedicated parts for the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. This fully-loaded version of the adventure touring motorcycle showcases the potential of the Suzuki platform when equipped for exploring offroad.
The stock Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is a lovely adventure tourer with a 249cc engine, long-travel suspension, and an upright riding position. Kijima capitalised on these strengths by adding a suite of functional accessories that enhance the bike's capabilities for touring and off-road riding.
A top box mounted on a rear luggage rack of the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 and dual K3 tactical side saddlebags provide ample storage space for extended trips. This added luggage capacity makes the bike much more functional for long trips. Also with soft luggage options, the bike bike gets the versatility of drop protection as well as ease of carrying luggage from the bike to the accommodation while travelling.
For better wind protection on long hauls, Kijima installed a taller windscreen on the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. It is smoked visor and that does take some visibility away but adds a cool look. Cube-style LED auxiliary lights offer better illumination in low-light conditions, while sleek LED turn indicators replace the stock bulb units. This would be extremely helpful for the early morning starts as the V-Strom doesn’t particularly have great lamps.
Kijima didn't neglect the aesthetics of the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. Tech 11 ORVMs, crafted from die-cast aluminium and carbon fibre, replace the stock mirrors, adding a touch of sophistication. The rest of the body panels on the bike are left untouched.
Kijima left the stock 249cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine untouched. This engine produces a healthy 26 bhp and 22 Nm. For added engine protection, though, Kijima outfitted the bike with a beefier one-piece metal engine guard.
The underpinnings of the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 remain unchanged, providing a solid foundation for adventure riding. The suspension comprises a telescopic fork and a monoshock, offering decent travel for handling rough terrain.
The stock braking system with disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS remains the same. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped with dual-purpose tyres.
Overall, Kijima's accessories for the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 add functionality while keeping the visual appeal of the bike as close to stock. The difference is subtle and functional which is great for places where modifying bikes is considered to be an offence.
