Bookings for the Kinetic DX electric have commenced today, and deliveries will start in September.
Kinetic Watts and Volts (a subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering) has launched its debut electric scooter, the Kinetic DX. The new electric scooter is the reincarnation of the hugely popular Kinetic Honda DX scooter from the 90s, but in an EV avatar. Here are its key highlights
Kinetic has paid quite the attention to ensure that the latest DX electric scooter pays proper tribute to the Kinetic Honda DX from the 90s. Right from the headlight cowl with the “Kinetic” badge that now illuminates, down to its metal sheet panel. The electric scooter has also grown in size and rides on 12-inch wheels, unlike the 10-inch options available before. Plus, the colour options are also the same Red, Blue, White, Black, and Silver shades as was before.
The Kinetic DX electric scooter is powered by a 2.6 kWh battery and paired with a 4.8 kW electric motor. The overall setup is good for a claimed top speed of 90 kmph, while the claimed range is 116 km on a single charge. Additionally, Kinetic has a unique feature called Cruise Lock, which locks the speed of the electric scooter at 25-30 kmph, helping extrapolate a massive 150 km of range on a single charge.
Feature-wise, the Kinetic DX electric scooter gets one of the biggest instrument consoles amongst the family electric scooters that measures 8.8-inch wide. This LCD unit supports all the modern smartphone connectivity features available these days, and more. Plus there are also several quirky features on offer here, like the patented integrated charger onboard that works like an extension cord, keyless ignition, and a switch to open the pillion footpegs.
Other highlights include the massive 37-litre boot space, which is among the largest in the segment. Along with that, you would also get reverse and hill-hold assist, plus music and navigation control as standard, which will play out via on-board speakers.
You also get a regenerative braking system here, which Kinetic is calling K-Coast. The Kinetic electric scooter is available with several telekinetic features like real-time ride stats, vehicle data, geo-fencing, intruder alert, find My Kinetic, and much more. However, all of these features will be restricted to the top-spec Kinetic DX+ trim.
The new Kinetic Watts and Volts electric scooter will compete against the likes of the Ather Rizta, Ola S1 range, and TVS iQube family electric scooters, making it a compelling choice in the premium electric scooter segment. It will be available in two trims – DX and DX+. The base DX variant is priced at ₹1,11,499 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the latter with all the bells and whistles will set you back by ₹1,17,499 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for both trims have started today online and deliveries are expected in the next few months.
