Kinetic Engineering Ltd has opened a new automated production line for manufacturing the Kinetic DX electric scooter at its Ahilya Nagar factory in Maharashtra. The robotic chassis line features automated welding systems, fixture technology, and a specialised assembly cell for scooter frames.
The facility upgrade includes enhanced metal body panel production with hydraulic and mechanical presses, spot welding equipment, and pneumatic fixtures. The company has also modernised its paint shop with a 7-tank coating process, starting with CED treatment followed by metallic finishing for improved corrosion protection.
Additional improvements include a new parts storage system with individual quality gauges for components and kit-based supply arrangements that match sub-assembly needs. These changes are designed to improve inventory control and streamline production operations.
The manufacturing enhancements support production of the Kinetic DX EV, an electric scooter that benefits from the improved assembly processes. The upgraded paint shop uses advanced coating techniques to provide better durability and premium surface quality compared to traditional methods. The automated systems will also help reduce manufacturing errors and boost efficiency and workplace safety. The robotic welding technology ensures consistent precision and structural quality in chassis production for the electric scooter.
Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering Ltd, said: "The future of manufacturing belongs to companies that can seamlessly integrate automation, precision, and sustainability into their processes. With the inauguration of our Robotic Chassis Line, we are not just upgrading a facility, we are reimagining how manufacturing should be done in India. This move positions us to deliver unmatched consistency and reliability, while also setting a benchmark for how automation can transform traditional industries. At Kinetic, we see this as part of a larger shift where Indian manufacturing stands shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world."
