KTM 390 Duke

KTM has increased the 390 Duke’s price by ₹40,000 as it prepares to launch the 350 cc version of this bike very soon.

KTM 390 Duke has become a lot more expensive in India, with KTM hiking its ex-showroom price by ₹40,000. The bike is now priced at ₹3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The price revision comes in response to a 40% tax applicable to the motorcycle. While the tax increase had been announced earlier, KTM had initially absorbed the additional cost instead of passing it on to customers. The latest revision marks a shift in strategy, with the full impact now being reflected in the retail price.

As a result of the hike, buyers who have already booked the motorcycle will be required to pay the updated price at the time of delivery, leading to a noticeable increase in overall ownership cost.

The move also appears to be part of KTM’s broader portfolio positioning strategy. The company is expected to introduce a new 350 cc Duke in the near future, which will fall under a lower 18% tax bracket. This would allow KTM to price the upcoming model more competitively, creating a clearer gap between it and the current 390 Duke.

While the upcoming 350 cc model is likely to be more accessible, it is expected to offer lower performance compared to the 390 Duke, which remains one of the most powerful motorcycles in its segment. It’s also expected that the 350 cc version will continue under the 390 Duke moniker, but will feature a suffix to differentiate it from its more powerful sibling.
