Triumph will continue to produce the older 400 cc models exclusively for exports.

Triumph has updated its 400 range with a new 350 cc engine which is based on the 398 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder power used previously. The downsizing is a direct result of the GST 2.0 regime introduced in September 2025 which raised the cost of all motorcycles with engine displacement greater than 350 cc. The reduction in GST has resulted in the pricing of the 2026 Triumph 350 cc motorcycle range dropping by ₹7,000 to ₹15,000 depending on the model.

Going forward all motorcycles in the Triumph 400 range will be powered by a 350 cc even though the British bikemaker will continue to use the same “400” branding in the new models. Triumph has confirmed that the 400 cc motor has been discontinued for good in India, however, the engine is likely to remain in production for the export markets.

The new Triumph range features a downsized 350 cc engine, a displacement reduction achieved by shortening the engine's stroke. In the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, this motor produces 36.50 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 7,000 rpm that translates to a loss of 3 bhp and 3.5 Nm compared to the previous version. Meanwhile, the Speed 400 T4 is tuned for 29 bhp and 31 Nm, a drop of 2 bhp and 5 Nm.

Apart from the new engine, all hardware components remain unchanged including the frame, wheels, brakes and suspension. The only other change in the new Triumph 350 cc range is the absence of an engine immobiliser. This has been done as a measure to cut down costs further.
