Lexus has opened bookings for the LM luxury MPV in India. The second-generation Lexus LM can now be booked across Lexus dealerships in India. The first-generation Lexus LM was launched in 2020 to meet demands for a chauffeur-driven luxury MPV in Asian markets. In fact, Lexus had showcased the first-generation LM at the 2023 Auto Expo.To know more about the Lexus LM, don't forget to head over to our unveil story.
Lexus will offer the LM in India with both 4-seat and 7-seat configurations. The 4-seat model will feature a partition equipped with a 48-inch wide-screen display in front of the rear seats. There’s also a retractable glass partition above the display separating the front and rear compartments while offering a forward view, and assist grips provide easy entry and exit.
The speakers, refrigerator, storage compartments, and other functions are integrated into the design elements, as well. On the other hand, the 7-seat versions will come equipped with exclusive rear independent seats. Lexus has improved the extension and retraction range of the ottoman seats in comparison to the previous model. In addition, heated armrests and ottomans are also another Lexus first.
Moreover, the LM will also get a dedicated rear seat ‘thermal IR matrix sensor that detects passenger and ambient temperature and is located on the upper center portion of the partition. It divides the passenger’s body parts into four categories and estimates their thermal sensitivity. The system jointly controls the air-conditioning and seat heaters. Even the retractable table is large enough to operate a tablet device or notebook PC, and has a leather-wrapped surface with improved texture and non-slip as well as non-scratch functionality.
When it comes to safety, Lexus has equipped the LM with Lexus Safety System +, which is also available on the RX model. The luxury MPV will also come equipped with a pre-collision system, radar-based cruise control and a lane departure alert. It will also come with ‘Advanced Park’ functions along with an e-Latch system on the front doors, which is another first from Lexus.
In fact, Both the front and sliding doors are equipped with Safe Exit Assist which detects vehicles and bicycles approaching from behind, providing a warning notification and preventing the doors from opening. The Lexus LM is scheduled to arrive in India in the coming months and will demand a premium in terms of price over its sibling - Toyota Vellfire - which was launched earlier this month for a price of Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom).
