Lexus has released a teaser for the LM luxury MPV. The Japanese automaker is expected to launch the LM in the coming months. The Lexus LM was first unveiled to the public at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year. The LM MPV is currently in its second generation and is based on the Toyota Vellfire, which was also recently launched in India. Lexus had displayed the first-generation LM at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Earlier, the Lexus LM was sold exclusively in the Chinese market. However, with the arrival of the second-generation model, Lexus has committed to selling the LM in other markets like Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United Kingdom. The name LM stands for Luxury Mover and is aimed at the discerning customer looking for a chauffeur-driven vehicle. Just like the Vellfire, it comes with a host of goodies.
The Lexus LM boasts of a 48-inch TV, 23-speaker surround-sound system and aircraft-like recliner seats. Then there’s the fridge, multiple USB ports, wireless phone chargers, fold-out tables, umbrella holder and a wide variety of comfort-based features that will appeal to the customers in the back seat. The second-gen LM even gets a voice control system which is claimed to be the first in the world to cater to the passengers at the back. That’s not all, not by a long shot.
Furthermore, the Lexus LM is based on Toyota’s GA-K modular platform which is also used by other Toyota and Lexus models like ES, RX, RAV4, Camry and Highlander. Once it arrives in India, the Lexus LM will most likely be powered by a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid motor, which is capable of self-charging. This engine has also been used in the Lexus LM350h, which gets four-wheel drive as standard. The Lexus LM will not have any real rivals apart from its sibling - Toyota Vellfire, expect it to command a slight premium over its Toyota counterpart.
