Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh Dominate India's Auto Sales in FY26: SIAM

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are the top-performing states for automobile sales in financial year (FY) 2025-26, with western and northern regions continuing to drive overall volumes nationally, according to data published by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). In the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, the country recorded total sales of 46.43 lakh units during FY26, with the western zone contributing the most at 15.28 lakh units. 

Notably, Maharashtra led all states with 5.64 lakh units, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

Two-wheelers remained the single largest segment by volume, with national sales reaching 21.71 million units. The western zone again topped regional figures at 7.11 million units, while Uttar Pradesh led at the state level with 3.18 million units sold. 

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka followed in that order.

In the three-wheeler segment, India sold 8.36 lakh units over the same period. The southern zone led regionally with 2.57 lakh units, while Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest state-level sales at 0.99 lakh units, ahead of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Bihar.
