Mahindra said total vehicle sales, including exports, reached 99,636 units for the month, marking a 20 per cent year-on-year increase.
Mahindra & Mahindra on Monday posted domestic SUV sales of 58,021 units in May 2026, an 11 per cent increase from 52,431 units recorded in the same month in 2025, with demand holding firm across its utility vehicle range. The automaker said total vehicle sales, including exports, reached 99,636 units for the month, marking a 20 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase.
Overall utility vehicle sales, inclusive of exports, came in at 59,573 units in May, while domestic commercial vehicle sales climbed 19 per cent to 24,079 units.
For the April–May period of FY27, domestic SUV sales grew 9 per cent to 1,14,352 units, against 1,04,761 units in the corresponding period a year earlier.
"In May, we achieved SUV sales of 58,021 units, a growth of 11 per cent and total vehicle sales stood at 99,636, a 20 per cent YoY growth. The sustained demand across our portfolio continues, constrained by supply chain challenges due to manpower shortages at select suppliers," Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra's Automotive Division, said in a statement.
Within the commercial vehicle segment, sales of light commercial vehicles under two tonnes rose 35 per cent year-on-year to 3,490 units in May, while those in the 2–3.5 tonne category grew 16 per cent to 20,589 units.
The three-wheeler segment delivered the sharpest growth of the month, with sales nearly doubling -- up 89 per cent to 12,536 units from 6,635 units a year ago. On a year-to-date basis, three-wheeler volumes were 85 per cent higher at 22,435 units.
Exports maintained their upward trajectory, rising 37 per cent to 5,000 units in May 2026 from 3,646 units in the same month last year.
