The utility vehicle major's August dispatches rose 40.5 per cent year-on-year, marking a fourth straight month above the one-lakh mark on the back of sustained SUV and export growth.
Mahindra & Mahindra sold 104,009 vehicles in August 2026, a 40.5 per cent increase over the 74,027 units dispatched a year earlier, according to production, sales and export data filed with the BSE and NSE. The figures extend a run of four consecutive months in which the company's total sales have stood at or above the 100,000-unit mark, following 99,636 units in May, a record 106,207 in June and 103,860 in July.
Production for August climbed to 114,737 units from 89,509 a year ago, while exports more than doubled to 6,134 units from 3,575, the filing showed. The company's commercial vehicle and three-wheeler segment, which includes electric variants sold through subsidiary Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, contributed 34,388 units of production and 29,830 units of sales, both up sharply from the previous August.

The utility vehicle portfolio remained the principal driver of volumes. The Scorpio range recorded the steepest gains among core models, with production rising to 17,407 units from 13,524, while the Thar and Thar Roxx together grew to 10,105 units from 9,433. The XUV700 nameplate has been discontinued in favour of the XUV7XO, which posted production of 7,203 units in its place. Bolero production rose to 9,081 units from 5,913.
Notably, Mahindra's Electric Origin SUV range, sold under subsidiary Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited and comprising the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S, saw production nearly double to 8,617 units from 5,030, with sales rising to 8,205 units from 3,864. The trend mirrors the pattern seen through May, June and July, when the electric range consistently logged between 6,300 and 6,500 units a month, even as the mix shifted decisively towards the newer XEV 9S at the expense of the BE 6 and XEV 9e.

The sustained volumes come as Mahindra works to expand capacity to meet demand that, company executives have said, has periodically outstripped supply because of manpower constraints at some suppliers. The company's monthly SUV production capacity, at 64,500 units at the end of the last financial year, is being scaled up towards roughly 82,000 units by the end of FY27, alongside a planned increase in electric vehicle capacity to 144,000 units annually by March 2027.
The results also arrive against a tightening competitive backdrop. Industry retail data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations has shown Tata Motors edging ahead of Mahindra for the second position in India's passenger vehicle market through much of the first half of the current calendar year, even as Mahindra's wholesale numbers have continued to expand. With the festive season approaching, the coming months are likely to test whether Mahindra can convert its production momentum into retail market share gains.
