The special edition, based on the range-topping Pack Three variant, is now offered in three matte finishes starting at Rs 29.35 lakh.

Mahindra has introduced a new paint option for the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition, adding Satin Desert Myst to a palette that previously comprised Satin Black and Satin White. The update, announced this week, gives buyers of the special edition a third colour choice roughly four months after its March launch.

The Cineluxe Edition is built on the Pack Three variant of the XEV 9e, Mahindra's electric coupe-SUV, and uses the same 79kWh battery pack that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 656km on a single charge. Mechanically, then, nothing changes with the new colour; the update is purely cosmetic, aimed at giving the special edition a fresh visual hook well into its production run.

Where the Cineluxe genuinely departs from the standard XEV 9e is inside the cabin and on the badge. It gets a dual-tone Chestnut Brown and Nocturne Black interior theme with contrast brown stitching, along with a dedicated Cineluxe badge on the rear quarter panel — details absent on regular XEV 9e trims, which stick to Mahindra's standard colourways and cabin finishes. The satin exterior paint itself is another point of departure; Mahindra does not offer a matte finish on other XEV 9e variants, making it exclusive to this edition.

That distinction carries through to pricing. The Cineluxe Edition is priced at Rs 29.35 lakh (ex-showroom), a significant premium over the standard XEV 9e range, which starts at Rs 21.90 lakh.

The gap reflects not just the top-spec Pack Three underpinnings but the bespoke cosmetic package Mahindra has built around it — a strategy increasingly common in India's electric vehicle segment, where manufacturers use special editions to sustain interest in a model between full facelifts.
