A lot is going on for the updated 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO, both over and under the skin.
After several teasers and spy shot images, Mahindra has finally launched the latest updated iteration of its sub-compact SUV – the Mahindra XUV 300. Now called Mahindra XUV 3XO, the latest product represents the brand’s “commitment to innovation and excellence.” It will also showcase the SUV maker’s “world-class capabilities” of its design and engineering teams.
A quick look at the spec sheet and Mahindra's strategy is visible. As has been put by Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Design, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. “From those upgrading from a hatchback to their first SUV to luxury seekers looking for high-end features at a competitive price, the XUV 3XO offers a unique blend of innovation, safety, comfort, and performance.”
So, what are the changes?
Replacing the conventional rectangular-styled headlamp design are new hexagonal-shaped LED headlamps and LED fog lamps, flanked by more distinct and longer C-shaped LED DRLs. The grille and bumper design have also been updated and it now benefits from a new piano black finish. The overall appeal does look premium, and sophisticated, thus straying away from being a conventional looker. Just like the front fascia, the rear has also been updated with the new infinity LED tail lamp, thus bringing the XUV 3XO on par with its competitors. But from the side, the profile has largely remained the same, except for those new 17-inch alloys.
While not a radically different cabin, Mahindra has added several subtle touches that amp up the overall experience when sitting inside the new XUV 3XO. For starters, there are now two 10-inch HD screens on the dashboard, one for infotainment and the other as the instrumentation cluster - which is further flanked by piano-black inserts around the control.
The interior gets a new ivory colour option, and the dashboard is now wrapped in soft-touch leatherette which also extends to the steering wheel and door panels. The seats are also wrapped in leatherette as standard, which helps elevate the premium experience.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO becomes the first in the sub-compact SUV segment to be available with three smart steering modes - Comfort, Normal, and Sport. In addition to the drive modes - Zip, Zap, and Zoom – which are only available with the XUV 3XO turbo Petrol Automatic variants only; the different steering modes will be available across all powertrains.
Additionally, Mahindra has also equipped the XUV 3XO with its MTV-CL technology which it debuted with the Mahindra XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. This valve control technology further improves the ride quality and makes it more comfortable.
Ensuring that the Mahindra XUV 3XO is a proper modern car is the addition of (necessary) modern features. Like Level 2 ADAS with 360-degree monitoring and Bline view monitor. All XUV 3XO will also be available with six airbags as standard, four disc brakes, 3-point seat belts, and seat belt reminders for all seats. The electronic stability control has also been further optimized, along with hill-hold and hill-descent control.
Convenience features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 65 W USB C-type charging point, Harmon Kardon Premium Audio system, four ambient sound modes, and a new Skyroof aka panoramic sunroof are the latest new additions.
Continuing with its world-class line-up of turbcharged engines from before, the Mahindra XUV 3XO will continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre TGDi, and the 1.2-litre TCMPFi petrol engines, along with the 1.5-litre CRDe engine. However, new with the iteration, especially petrol variants is the introduction of a new 6-speed automatic transmission from AISIN. While diesel variants are available with a new 6-speed AutoSHIFT+ automatic transmission.
The thorough updates introduced above also saw the variant line-up of the Mahindra XUV300 aka XUV 3XO get rejigged. Up from five, the sub-compact SUV is now available in nine trim levels - MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5 L, AX7, AX7 L. The ex-showroom price of this range starts from ₹7.49 lakh and goes up to ₹15.49 lakh.
