Most of the subcompact SUVs in India get the choice of petrol and diesel engines, except for the Brezza, Kiger and Magnite. The XUV 3XO, Nexon, Sonet and Venue get a 1.5-litre diesel engine, while all (except the Brezza) get the choice of a turbo-petrol engine. The XUV 3XO and Nexon get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine but the XUV 3XO gets its turbo-petrol engine in two states of tune. The Sonet, Venue, Kiger and Magnite get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine instead. While the Brezza has the largest petrol engine, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) unit, the Kiger and Magnite get the smallest NA petrol engine with both having a 1.0-litre unit. Lastly, the Sonet and Venue also get a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine.

Renault

The 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine of the XUV 3XO has the most power and torque of any petrol/ turbo-petrol engine in this list. In terms of diesel engines, the XUV 3XO’s 1.5-litre diesel mill also has the most power and torque. The least powerful engines of the lot can be found in the Kiger and Magnite.

Nissan

Mahindra has also introduced a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox on the XUV 3XO but it is only available on the turbo-petrol engines, the diesel still gets the 6-speed AMT. The Magnite and Kiger also get the option of a CVT automatic gearbox. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) is available on the Nexon, Sonet and Venue. Along with the XUV 3XO, the Nexon also gets a 6-speed AMT, while the Magnite and Kiger get a 5-speed AMT.

Hyundai

The Sonet is the only car in this list to get a clutchless manual gearbox (the iMT in Kia speak). Talking about manual gearboxes, the Brezza, Kiger and Magnite solely get a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the Nexon, Sonet and Venue also get a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox. The XUV 3XO is the only SUV here to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.
