An Instagram user has posted multiple videos of a pre-release Mahindra XUV 7XO, without any camouflage. The car is seen parked, without registration plates. Design details of the exterior as well as interior can easily be seen, even ahead of tomorrow’s big launch and unveiling. Although we now know exactly what it will look like, important information about the XUV 7XO including prices, variants, and detailed specifications will be announced on January 5.
The new model, an updated version of the popular Mahindra XUV700 with a fresh name, is a three-row midsize SUV. It is expected to be available with a choice between a 2 litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2 litre diesel engine, and with both manual and automatic transmission options. Performance figures are not likely to differ much compared to the existing XUV700.

Pre-bookings have already opened at Mahindra dealerships across India, for a token amount of ₹21,000. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. It is likely that the unit in the videos was being kept ready at a dealership, as it has no protective wrap on the outside. A badge shows the variant name AX7L.
The unit in the videos posted by a user named @gearshift.garaze shows details about the XUV 7XO’s design including fresh headlamps, taillamps and DRLs; a redesigned front grille and bumpers; and new wheels. The interior shows off several features that have already been announced and teased including dual-tone brown and cream seats as well as panels; a wide glossy black dashboard with space for up to three screens; a two-spoke steering wheel; a digital driver’s instrument cluster that plays a welcome animation; and a panoramic sunroof. Several of the design touches give this new model a family resemblance with the company’s “born electric” SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e.

From teasers and pre-release information, we expect to see three screens and up to a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system on the top-end variant(s), an augmented reality head-up display, tablet mounting slots for rear seat passengers, a “boss mode” with controls to let second-row occupants adjust the front passenger seat, L2 ADAS, 540-degree surround view, Dolby Atmos, and ambient interior lighting. Other conveniences include sun shades, multiple wireless and USB Type-C charging locations, and a powered tailgate.
