To be launched as Mahindra’s upcoming ‘Born Electric’ range BE SUVs, the camouflaged XUV.e9 was spotted near Okhla.
As Mahindra inches close to launching the production-avatar of the XUV .e9, it’s first of several next-generation ‘Born Electric BE’ range of SUVs – the frequency of camouflaged test mules on roads being tested has increased off-late. We recently spotted one near Okhla, Delhi, which allowed us to gauge how far they have come with the design, before they officially launch it, most likely, on August 15, 2024.
Based on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, the XUV .e9 will have quite an imposing stance. Being a coupe SUV characterised by that sloping roofline, in the spy shot, the rear profile gives off a very distinct Lamborghini Urus-ish vibe albeit a much toned-down design. Furthermore, what seems like 20-inch wheels also add to its imposing cause and the production-spec XUV .e9 here promises will be quite the crowd puller.
Earlier, Mahindra confirmed that the scalable platform of the SUV will able to accommodate all-wheel drive (AWD) and rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) combinations. It will also get the benefit of two battery pack options - 60 kW and 80 kW. With RWD, the .e9 will be able to produce 281 bhp, and with AWD, the system will be tuned to produce 388 bhp. The brand also confirmed that the XUV .e9 will be good for 450 km of range (WLTP cycle), and 0--80 per cent of the battery will be charged in 30 minutes using a 175 kW charger.
Being part of the brand’s flagship range, the Mahindra XUV .e9 will also benefit from a premium cabin. That will be loaded to the brim with all the latest techs. From ADAS to ventilated and powered front seats, to six airbags, and much more. Exact details will be confirmed at the time of launch. Given all the bells and whistles it will come equipped, we expect Mahindra will price it at from ₹45 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). In that range, it will have the likes of the Volvo C40 Recharge, the upcoming Tata duo of Safari EV and Harrier, etc.
